We’ve seen an increase in the number of prep kitchens, back kitchens, or sculleries added to the homes we’re designing.

Over the past year, we’ve seen various jewel-hued shades of green pop up in the kitchen. But may in 2023, we’re moving to those mid-tone greens that complement neutrals. 7. Vintage furniture
Old-fashioned farm tables are a great way to add islands to your kitchen without the need for major repairs. Also, because of its unique size, vintage furniture can be used in kitchens that don’t have enough room for a full-size island. Another benefit of a vintage piece of furniture is that it adds unexpected visual interest and becomes a talking point. It doesn’t feel visually “heavy” compared to a traditional built-in island, while still adding extra space for preparation and seating.

The eyes need a place to rest, and not every surface needs a different finish or color to be interesting or attract attention.
